Why we Made This Site
Our eponymous album "Ours To Destroy" released in 2006 represented an exploration of different genres and musical styles, an anarchistic approach to recording music with a focus on exploration. We wanted the album to flow, to feel like it was a cohesive album, despite significant swings in style and mood song to song.
How?
We decided to bridge each song on the album with sounds so we hit the malls, parking lots, and streets of Calgary armed with a laptop recording system in a shopping cart and a stereo mic on a boom. We recorded over 3 hours of unique sounds some of which were used on the album, most were not.
Which brings us to the point of this site. To share the sounds that we captured so that you can use them in your audio project...whatever that may be. All sounds are shared under a creative commons attribution deed (read deed here.) If you use any of these sounds in your project attribution must be made to Ours To Destroy. That's the only rule. Feel free to manipulate, change, create derivative works...whatever you want... as long as you attribute "Ours To Destroy" in the release notes.

Uncompressed Audio
All the sounds you hear on this site are available uncompressed recorded in stereo at 16 bits (standard CD quality.) If you'd like a CD with all the audio samples, each conveniently labelled, the cost is a $25 US donation which includes air shipping anywhere in the world.
